Sights in Reims
Over the centuries, Rheims has always been the scene of historical events, the traces of which are still visible today. The German surrender after the Second World War was signed here.
One of the most imposing sacred buildings in Reims is undoubtedly the Notre-Dame de Reims Cathedral. It is one of the most beautiful Gothic churches in France and has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1991. For seven centuries the rulers of France were crowned here. Equally impressive is the Archbishop’s Palace, also known as the Palace of Tau, which was built around 1500. A magnificent fireplace in the main salon is a highlight of the exhibition. During coronation ceremonies, the kings of the time stayed here.
Another interesting destination in Reims is the Basilica of Saint-Remi, which dates back to the seventh century and is also a World Heritage Site. The fascinating building of the former royal abbey of St. R?mi is almost as big as the cathedral.
